Already during her studies in Milan and Venice, Isabella Sedeka started with some initial gold leaf works. Strongly inspired by the early outcomes, the artist innovated techniques to transport classical elements from its religious heritage into a contemporary language.
With a mix of acrylic base, which gets covered by composition of scrubbed gold, bronze and silver leaves, she brings her works to shine in the first place to then initiate an artificial aging process by using a special developed technique of erosion.
These newly formed structures, which the artist works out on the canvas become a projection surface of Sedeka’s confrontation with ease and depth, which the beholder can experience in the changing light of a day.
